The answer is not really! It's clear to me that I have lots to learn more to learn about cupcakes! And, I love them so much that I just can't stop making them. I would have thought that after one year I would be tired of those little cakes...but I'm not.
However, I do need some sort of closure to this particular project at the 52nd cupcake. I've decided to have a contest of sorts to honor the end of one year of cupcakes!
The winner will receive a dozen cupcakes to be chosen from one of the previous 51 cupcake recipes I've made during the year (the winner decides which one). I will fedex overnight them...unless it's overseas...then it may have to be a two-day delivery.
Week 52 is April 24th. The deadline to enter is 9:00 p.m. (EST), April 23, 2006. The morning of April 24, at 7:00 a.m. (EST), I'll announce the winner of the contest. All you have to do is respond to this posting why you want to win a dozen of my cupcakes. Anonymous postings won't be entered in the contest.
Also, that morning I will be launching a new web site called 52 Cupcakes that will have all 52 recipes, photos, blog entries, etc on it.
The contest starts NOW!!
Oh No, Mr. Bill! Is This the End of 52 Cupcakes??

Let me see, why should I want a dozen cupcakes baked by your very own hands? Well, you have inspired me to actually bake cupcakes again. And as a graduate of the UM sysstem, I can proudly say 'Go Terps!' and mean it. I will also agree not to sure the cupcakes with anyone who is not a fan of the Terps. And now, I am off to get the ingredients to make some special cupcakes to take with me to a function tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to win a dozen of your cupcades because it would be the coolest show and tell snack for my Neatnik's preschool. Her preschool is a coop so the moms rotated being class helper and bringing in the snack of the day - usually I do fruit but I would make an exception for a dozen of your exceptional cupcakes. They just recently started learning the Pledge of Allegiance, too, and it would be really neat:
ReplyDelete"Look, boys and girls, these cupcakes were baked especially for you by The Cupcake Queen in Washington, DC - that's where the President works."
I don't have a cool reason to win a box of your cupcakes--just curiousity! I've been loving the past few months reading your new and fun cupcake ideas. I'm saving the chocolate ancho cupcakes for my roommate's birthday. :)
ReplyDeletePlease pick me so I can fall off the wagon (temporarily) in style! I have been doing Weight Watchers for a month and have lost 15 pounds. I have been craving cupcakes but nothing is beautiful or tasty enough to use my extra points on. I have no doubt that I would enjoy your cupcakes more than ANYONE else (because I miss them so much...)and then I would continue my diet with a song in my heart. Please know that I have been 'lurking' on your website for awhile and have enjoyed meeting your family, your dog, and your Terps. I'm so glad to hear you're not ending your blog. It's been very motivational to watch you challenge yourself in such a way. It even has me thinking about starting a little challenge for myself! Thanks for sharing your year with us. Isn't it amazing how you can make such a difference in other people's lives by following your own heart in such a yummy way?
ReplyDeleteI've been following your blog since around cupcake 15 and weekly drool over your latest offering. My sister who first showed me your blog, used to live with me and sometimes make your cupcakes. She now lives several states away and I just mailed her a flexible Kitchenaid cupcake tray so she can continue her cupcake skills in the great midwest.
ReplyDeleteI deserve your cupcakes because I miss my sister (and her cupcakes) terribly so and your yummy cupcakes will bring us a little closer.
CQ, I am SO glad that you'll continue blogging about your adventures in cupcake baking!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEach week, I eagerly anticipated your latest posts, salivated over your creations, read with envy about lucky coworkers (and your bro in Spokane!) who were treated to your homebaked goodies--and in the process, I found inspiration for my own baking adventures.
Whenever I see a new cupcake-themed book, product, or magazine article, I think, "I have to tell the Cupcake Queen about this!" Reading your blog has become one of the simple pleasures in my life. XO, Surcie
First congratulations on your 52week adventure coming to an end. I have enjoyed seeing what cupcake you made each week. My kids also enjoyed looking at the cupcake photos. Because of you I now have a plethara of cupcake specific cookbooks. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteDo I even need to give you reasons why I should win those dozen cupcakes? I mean, c'mon, could you have paid for a better groupie? And I'm local! So the fawning and praise could be on-going, well, until you get sick of me...
ReplyDeleteOk, I could be shameless and tell you how wonderful all your cupcakes sound--which would be true, but I won't.
ReplyDeleteInstead, I'll just say, I could really use one. I just moved to a new town, so I'm missing all my friends.
I just took on an nonpaying year long internship at a church where they are more elated that they don't have to pay me and have glommed onto the phrase, "Blame it on the intern" instead of passing out encouragement.
I just enrolled the nine year old in a charter school because the new school doesn't have a gifted program and they refused to give him more advanced work. While the school is great for the kiddo--it's 25-30 more hours of work a week for me on top of the internship. (I did 35 more hours this month than "budgeted") Remind me, how many hours in the day are there supposed to be?
My husband is working 80 hours a week--ending one job taking on another, while covering the loss of income brought on by the internship.
This week we spring forward--what? Now? You're kidding me?
And. . . I could really use some love in the mail.
So--shameless plug for sympathy. I don't even need a dozen. Just one cupcake would be like a cosmic, "good job, Wende."
S i g h.
Let's face it, I need something to eat with my "whine." :)
Congrats on your 52 weeks.
So many cupcakes...so little time.
ReplyDeleteI've thoroughly enjoyed your site
I read Wende's entry - please take mine out and send the cupcakes to her! She really needs the pick me up more than my kid's classmates need the cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteWell...I can't pull the Weight Watcher's off-the-wagon card because someone already did...I can't say I'd use them for show and tell because I don't have any children...ok, I sort of do have children...I manage the IT department for an advertising agency in Santa Monica and am the only female in the bunch, a den mother of sorts. The eleven guys, who are mainly young, single, video game-playing, tech geeks (and I mean that in the most affectionate terms), would swear their undying loyalty to me if I won a dozen cupcakes from 52 Cupcakes. It would almost elevate me to Godess level! (hope I win!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for a year of really enjoyable and tasty reading. You've been an inspiration!
I haven't commented before, but I have been following your pictures on flickr for a long while, and I have been reading all about your delicious cupcakes. I deserve the cupcakes because I've had a horrible past 52 weeks, and winning would make it all seem worthwhile. After, a car accident, 5 deaths, and a couple college rejections... I think some of your delicious bakery items would make me smile.
ReplyDeleteEmily
Wow, this is a very cool place you got here. I LOVE cupcakes!!! Here via Michele this evening...
ReplyDeleteThanx for sharing all these great cupcake-adventures with us! I really think I should be the one winning your gorgeous cupcakes, since I live in the Netherlands and cupcakes are virtually unknown here. I've been making them for quite a while but it would be very nice to taste cupcakes from a real experienced baker like yourself. I need a cupcake-mentor!
ReplyDeleteI saw you at Michele's and thought I'd drop by...I'd take the cupcakes just because they are LUCIOUS looking...I'm SO glad I found this site, lol! I'm DROOOOOOOLLLLLING right now.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I'm on a perpetual diet, so cupcakes in the mail would be a GREAT reason to stop dieting for a day (yeah, they'd be gone in a DAY!)
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI don't want to be in the drawing but, I have been honored by your cupcakes and I love you and am Very proud of you , Big sister!
Can't wait to see whatlies ahead.
Bean
Oh! Why not just do 52 more? Pretty please with frosting on top?
ReplyDeleteNo?
I was going to put in a shameless "send to me because i love cupcakes and i love mail and blah blah blah", but man. Not like you asked, but in my unbiased opinion (I dont' know anyone who reads your site) I think OhioVirus deserves 'em.
why should you pick me:
ReplyDelete- well, im from Singapore n nothin and i mean nothin compare to the cupcakes i've seen here.
-am a wife, mother n nursing student.currently juggling housework, cooking, family, studies and hospital attachments n studying for my exams.i need that extra sugar rush to propel me forwards.;>
-would love to bake cupcakes but alas nobody in my family likes them,so instead of wastin perfectly good food,am reduced to salivating over cupcakes in my dreams.the rainbow colours, exotic tastes, sublime sugar, whimsical decorations n wondrous aroma r only all in my head.
-cause i've never won anything ever in my life?
-cause i willl spread news of ur wonderful blog near n far in Singapore.Well,Singapore is only 647km in total!!!
-cause u will make my day.Nay,week. Nay,year.I'll think I'll remember it all the way to my dying bed.All that sugar.Yummmm.
-so wat do u say? Do we have a date on April 24th? Pretty please......
A whole year!How awesome!
ReplyDeletewell if you do go we will miss you!!
ReplyDeleteStephanie:
ReplyDeleteDon't worry...I'm not going anywhere...I love making cupcakes!
I was going to say this is why I should win your totally awesome cupcakes...but this is actually why I shouldn't win your cupcakes:
ReplyDeleteI'd eat them all. Happily. Really quickly. Because I'm a glutton.
...But I will document the whole event (and maybe share...yeah, I should share) with photos and commentary.
Actually, I'm surrounded by too many cupcakes. There are probably other people out there who are in more cupcake need than me. Ahh! Well. Thanks for making this cool contest (and all those cupcakes!). :)
Like some of your other posters, I am extremely busy with grad school, a super fun 7 year old, and thankless job. Hobbies? Yeah, right. Is that counting sleep? Then I made a batch of cupcakes for a coworker and had more fun with frosting than I had in quite a while (ahem!). A search on yahoo brought me here, and the next thing you know, I'm obsessed with cupcakes-- which REALLY worried my Weight Watchers buddies! "You're doing WHAT?? With high quality chocolate and pure sugar frosting??" Believe it or not, I am still losing weight, thanks to a three bite rule (three bites of anything will not make you gain 20 pounds, even if it super-dreamy ganache!)and the ability to have fun with food as a creative outlet! Prinouts of your recipes get stuck in my textbooks and my coworker's birthday, the catalyst of my baking frenzy, has occured several Fridays in a row, complete with a new cupcake each time! SO thanks so much for this blog, it has made my semester a little easier, work a little sunnier, and a 7 year old hopped up on chocolate, but at least it's Vahlrona! Can't wait to see the new site!!
ReplyDeleteo, yum, cupcakes!
ReplyDeletei love your site, please keep it up!
i hope i win :)
I doubt I will win coz' I am at the other end of the globe. But nevertheless, I adores your blog and each time, i drools over those awesome and lovely looking cupcakes. Wish I am closer so that I have a chance for that box of homemade yummy.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up.
Who wouldn't want to win a fat box of cupcakes! Especially from you. I've enjoyed reading this blog so much over the last year and hope that you continue with your cupcake adventures!
ReplyDeleteAnd isn't it all heartwarming that you have touched so many lives through your cupcakes? I'm all teary eyed just thinking of it!
I don't have any kind of sob story, but I love your cupcakes and wouldn't mind receiving some in the mail.
ReplyDeleteYou don't happen to make bacon do you? Because I would I would love to get bacon in the mail too.
I'm another Weight Watcher who enjoys baking. And while I can't bake as much as I'd like, because I share Layya's love of frosting and lots of it, I do enjoy reading about cooking. Your site is one that I'm always thrilled to read. Thanks for sharing your adventure. And I'm glad that you're going to continue cause a life without cupcakes and the blogs that are inspired by them IS NO LIFE AT ALL!
ReplyDeleteWhat a way
ReplyDeleteto encourage lurkers to post
I'm one of them, admittedly,
and am grateful to you, our host.
I forget in which week
I started to read
about your adventure
yet in my eye is a gleam.
I love all your content
there is hope in my heart;
since you seem so normal
maybe I can learn from your baking smarts!
With two jobs
and an 18-month-old,
a husband working nights...
well...
My life seems quite cold.
But I'd love to relax
with a warm cup o' tea
with a cupcake in my hand
and you to thank... please?
I love your blog even though I only discovered it about 6 weeks ago! I've read a bunch of the archives.
ReplyDeleteWhy I deserve a dozen cupcakes: is any other cupcake lover feeling the pain of college basketball season being over quite as we are? Your blog even inspired me to make basketball and Wildcat paw decorated cupcakes to take to a game watching party!
Thank you for sharing such a fun topic with the blog world. I have bought several of the cupcake books you recommended and love them. I also have begun buying interesting cupcake liners. Thanks for the encouragement. Cupcakes are easy to make, fun, and the perfect portion size when one is in the mood for a treat. How can one be unhappy when a cupcake is present? I can't wait to see what cupcake #52 is!
ReplyDeleteId like to win a dozen cupcakes because I've been baking cupcakes( and making cupcake tree's) for 2yrs starting with my wedding( 300 filled and frosted). No one, and I seriously mean NO ONE ever bakes for me. People are too scared too( afraid theirs wont be as good). Id love for someone to bake for me.
ReplyDeleteI would love to will a dozen of your cupcakes. I loved seeing your Twinkies so much that when I was traveling to visit my mom I twisted her arm to stop at Bed Bath and Beyond. I found the Twinkie kit and made them for my mom as a birthday treat. AND I just love the other cupcakes on your blog site. But, I just can't think of which one to try next. Give me a dozen cupcakes of your choice and help me make up my mind!
ReplyDeleteI was introduced to your blog by my daughter, who made twinkies for my birthday. They were just the most delicious cup cake I ever have eaten! I need to win the dozen cupcakes so I can enjoy another recipe. Thank you for such a great blog. Ardel
ReplyDeleteThere is something about cupcakes that bring you back to your youth. Lets face it, there are very few cakes out there that you can pass on the fork and still eat with your hands in polite society. Gone are the days of the chocolate or vanilla cupcakes and in are the more creative designer cupcakes. These mini cakes are perfect for just one. I love cupcakes. I still smile when I see a cupcake in bright colored frosting with sprinkles. Thank you for sharing your cupcakes with us. You have made me rethink the cupcake!
ReplyDeleteHowdy! (Did I mention I was from Texas?) I don't know if this is another entry or not, but I just had to share. I came out from my lurking position to let you know how much you inspired me. Well, I finally decided what my 52 week project will be. I'm going to sew! I bought a sewing machine this week, and just as soon as I read the basic instructions I'm going to start a project each week. When I was younger my mom made such great crafts and clothes for all of us. She tried so hard to teach me, but all I ended up with were half finished projects flung into corners. Well, I'm determined to learn how to do this! I always enjoyed starting projects but never had the patience to finish. Hey, I know! We could trade! I know I can make a fabric stuffed Christmas tree. I'll send you a tree if you send me your favorite cupcakes! Take care, and I'll let you know how it goes. =)
ReplyDeletewould LOVE to win some of your beautiful cupcakes. THis blog has made my day so many times. And because of you, I started baking more!! My husband thanks you!!! Can't wait til the new site with all the recipes launches. YAY!
ReplyDeleteUnlike many people here, I have not been a faithful lurker for months. I can't even tell you the series of links I took to get here. Once I got here, though, I couldn't stay away. I hated cooking, especially baking, when I was a kid and couldn't turn out a decent batch of chocolate chip cookies until I was in my 20s. Now, I'm about to start culinary classes. I'm not sure if it will become a career, but it's definitely a newly found and hard-won passion. It's been passion like yours for food and the making food that's inspired me. It's always a treat and an honor to get homemade treats as a gift. I just love the fact that you're offering!
ReplyDelete~Julie E. from Phoenix
Because I'm addicted.
ReplyDeleteIts 12:27 am and far from thinking about getting to bed, I'm contemplating consuming another ten chocolate covered coffee cream filled biscuits, that will no doubt keep me up all night.
But sweet insomnia indeed.
Because I ate a kilo of chocolate in a week.
Because my record is 7 pieces of cake in one day.
Because I have had conversations spanning hours with friends about sweet somethings alone.
Because I skip food and save my calories for dessert.
Because I'm saying please very very nicely?
Because I am a bonafied baked goods junky: I eat only organic vegetable soup most nights to save calories for DESSERT, I have been known to summon my husband to accompany me on 45 minute drives for the perfect cupcake I was craving, I tasted carrot cake from nearly every bakery known for their carrot cake in NYC in an effort to find the best one, In every city I visit I source the best bakeries before going so I am armed with a dessert itinerary, and above all, the cupcake is my favorite dessert! Hopefully those facts will convey the depths of my dessert obsession -- and of course, I've been a loyal reader --and frankly, your creations look darn good!
ReplyDeleteWOW- How awesome would it be to win a dozen of YOUR cupcakes! I have been following your cupcake baking since I decided my daughter's first birthday party would have a cupcake theme. It was an awesome birthday. And I have LOVED your blog ever since. A different cupcake each week...you're a genius!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun blog! I've loved reading about the cupcakes and checking out the recipes! I check out the recipes every week -- I love the themes (terp cupcakes) and varieties I never thought exisited (spicy ancho cupcakes!). The modest cupcake has never seemed so exciting. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteBecause I haelped change your diaper??
ReplyDeleteI adore your site and all its mouth-watering photos and can't wait to see the new site and what else you cook up! Rachel from Cupcakes Take the Cake
ReplyDeleteWhy me? Well why not? I have loved watching your journey from non-baker to cupcake queen extraordinaire! You rock and I hope whatever comes next is just as successful and makes you just as happy as this. And even if I don't win and you feel like baking some cupcakes-for dinner club or not- just know I am one of your many every ready groupies! All the best! :)
ReplyDeletei found your blog from cupcakes take the cake, and i've been a hapless lurker. your last midnight maddness cupcakes are to-die-for! i would sacrifice my tongue to indefinite blackness to taste such delight.
ReplyDeletei grew up in maryland (good ole frederick), and enjoy being whisked back to DCism and terpness ever so often. :) i would love to be the recipient of your dozen cupcakes because (1) i will be able to reminisce about maryland in every bite, (2) i'd love to share them with all my fellow over-worked sleep-deprived sugar-craving graduate student friends at MIT, and (3) knowing they are home-made makes them infinitely more delicious!
thank you so much for sharing your baking tales with us!
Sheesh.. thats an easy one. Why should I win?
ReplyDeleteI had written a long, suck-upy post about why you should choose me, and then accidentally deleted it.
You should choose me because,
1. I am local and will take you out for coffee.
2. I am in the process of finding a new team to root for basketball in this area- and could be encouraged to become a Lady Terp fan!
3. I am cool
4. I love cupcakes.
5. I work in MD, and could pick up the cupcakes.
6. I am funny
7. I really love cupcakes.
I would love to have a dozen of your finest cupcake creations because my name is Mary (ahem, Maryland). Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteI have never ever eaten a proper American cupcake in my life as I live in Belgium. The more I visit this website, the more I'm thinking about selling up and moving next door to you. Sadly, I can't, so I have to make a plea here: feed the hungry Belgian ! We eat potatoes all the time, if famine strikes I'll have some sugar to keep me going :p No, really, your cupcakes look gorgeous, I bet they taste as well as they look and I'd send you a batch of Belgium's finest (chocolates or potatoes, you choose lol). Yes, I'm trying to bribe you. Anyway: pick me, pick me ! This poor girl has had to make do with boxes of Sarah Lee her whole life, only you can save me :p
ReplyDeleteI have loved following your posts this past year! I am an avid baker and cupcakes have become one of my favorite things to make. I've stolen your lemon cupcakes, mint buttercream frosting, and chocolate chile cupcakes, all the great success. (Thanks!) I'd love to get a taste of the master's work.
ReplyDeleteliz_byrd AT hotmail DOT com
Your cupcakes are beautiful, I love the variety!
ReplyDeleteI moved to the Michigan a year ago from ACC country and it has been hard, there are NO CUPCAKES HERE. I have looked high and low but they are no where to be found and unfortunately I am completely inept with an oven. I would pull for Maryland for the rest of my life if I were to be a winner.
This was the first food blog I've ever bookmarked and also the first food blog I've ever made something from. I go here more often that Food network. And the photography makes me want to taste my screen.
ReplyDeletePick me!!
Hi Cupcake Queen,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You're almost there. I've been enjoying your blog for a while now and I'm sorry week 52 is almost here! I have been consoling myself be reading the archives that I missed.
I would like to win your cupcakes because they always look so good and I'd like to see if they taste as good as they look! I want to take them to work (Manchester City Library) and share them with my coworkers. We're facing layoffs in July--the mayor has really cut our budget. Cupcakes would really lift our spirits! Thanks!
Cordially,
CookieWench rapier(AT)metrocast.net
Please sign me up! I just found your blog. I wish I would have found it a lot sooner! I love baking and especially cupcakes. I can't wait to start baking up some of your recipes.
ReplyDeleteThe timing of these cupcakes would be perfect, just before finals time, so it would REALLY help me survive finals. Also, since I can't eat them all myself I plan on sharing them with my fellow students who are helping pick up Post Katrina New Orleans, and my professors who are all teaching extra classes this semester to make sure all the students have enough courses. It would be a nice way to end a very hectic semester here at Tulane...not to mention it would slightly make up for the lost semester this fall.
ReplyDeleteBecause you inspired me............I have learned so much since accidently finding your blog. You inspired me to start my own blog and I am writing now all the time and learning to express myself through my baking.
ReplyDeleteYou inspired the name of my blog, at first I chose one cupcake at a time, then realized, Oh No!!That is what you had under 52 cupcakes.........Great I thought, I really stepped in the cupcake batter, the person who inspired me in the first place, isn't going to think I have much of an imagination, suddenly the light came on and I had my own name and was feeling pretty good about starting my own blog and have you to thank for it. I believe the first post I ever left you was when you made the malt ball cupcakes under that name.
True Story!!
Dear Cupcake Queen,
ReplyDeleteI live in the EAST! Over here we get a wonderous spread of Asian fare, and a fantastic spread of culinary delights from all over the world (but of course tailored to suit the asian palate). I can't bake to save my life, almost sending my father to the ER with my half cooked butter cake made with 15 eggs when I was 10. I tried your Blueberryrose cupcake recipe, but ALAS no fresh blueberries in our local suburban supermarket so I substituted it with bananas (highly popular and very available here). It was a disaster, even though I followed your recipe to a T (minus the blueberries). I have saved your peanut butter cupcake recipe onto my desktop and every weekend, try to muster the courage to try again! Cupcake Queen, I am butchering your recipes, please save me from my horrendous non-existant baker's fingers so I can truly taste the goodness that is 52 Cupcakes. Thank you ever so much for this blog, it has truly been an inspiration to all the little girls in us, the little girls that played tea-party with our brothers, making cupcakes out of play dough.
Cupcakes ROCK!
ReplyDeleteI work for Robin at WM, and while I can't root for the terps quite as wholeheartedly as the tribe, I've been checking your blog for awhile now, and drooling over some of the ridiculously delicious looking recipes.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I agree with Robin -Williamsburg is ripe for a cupcake store!!
I'm the baker at work - cupcakes or otherwise. Your blog has inspired me, and I've made a few of your recipes and printed out a lot of them! And this may be selfish, but it would be so cool to have someone back amazing cupcakes just for me! ;-)
ReplyDeletei have six children and my house seems to be the free for all kids hang out place. we make cupcakes four times a week or more and if you were to pick me, i would finally have someone making them for me. being a mom is hard all around and appreciation really does get lost somewhere between hi mom and whats to eat.
ReplyDeleteAll good, all the time!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on year 1!
Woo Hoo! I did it! I actually bought a new sewing machine, learned how to use it, and I made my daughter a beautiful light purple terry cloth robe! Now I have to decide on next weeks project. I am so proud of myself, I may have to bake myself a dozen cupcakes just to celebrate! Thanks again for the inspiration, Cupcake Queen. I feel GREAT!
ReplyDeleteWow, some of these comments are very intense. As far as why I would like to win a dozen cupakes from the Queen herself, there answer is very easy: so I could pass them off as my own. My cupcake baking has reached a plateau, I just don't have the time or dedication to to try to rival the Queen. So, you know, if you can't beat 'em, steal their work and take credit for it.
ReplyDeleteYour cupcakes are amazing and clearly your blog has brought joy to many people. Congratulations on your anniversary and best of luck in all your future endeavors.
I believe the cupcakes are our future, treat them well and let them lead the way...I believe that cupcakes will someday be used as an alternative fuel source...I believe that cupcakes should be the sixth food group…I believe that cupcakes led the Lady Terps to the National Championship...I believe that OJ Simpson did it in a cupcake induced fit of rage... I believe you should be The "Next Food Network Star"...I believe that cupcakes inspired DaVinci to paint the Mona Lisa...I believe that cupcakes convinced Kruschev to back down during the Cuban Missile Crisis...I believe that posting this late in your contest will give me an unfair advantage...I believe that Bogart had cupcakes in mind when he said “I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.” in Casablanca…I believe that CBS lured Katie Couric away from Today by putting cupcakes in her contract…I believe that I made your Gingerbread Cupcakes for my office Christmas party and everyone was convinced that I bought them from a bakery…I believe that we could use cupcakes to patch the whole in the o-zone layer and put an end to global warming…I believe that if the Cookie Monster tried cupcakes he would prefer them to the chocolate chips that he’s accustomed to…I believe that I’ll choose the week 20 cupcakes if I win this…I believe that when historians look back upon the 21st century, they’ll refer to it as the “Cupcake Age”…I believe that if your blog was a question on Jeopardy, Alex Trebeck would pronounce it “Fifty-two Coop-cakes”…I believe that cupcakes helped Sacajawea lead Lewis and Clark to the Pacific Coast…I believe that Layla and Harry are Supercool…I believe other foods should be served in cup form, like cup-steak, cup-fish, or cup-a-soup…actually, I believe that there already is cup-a-soup, so ignore that last one…I believe that my productivity at work is down at least 5% every Monday from the time spent reading this blog…I believe that it was a stale cupcake that was hurled at the Berlin Wall causing the first crack …I believe that the movie “American Pie” would have grossed triple the profits if it was called “American Cupcake”, I also believe that Don McLean’s song could have been 3 minutes longer if it had the same title…I believe that that you can use any or all of these reasons as to why I’d like to win a dozen cupcakes…I also believe that I’d like to congratulate you on a great year of baking and wish you the best of luck for 52 more weeks.
ReplyDeleteHi Cupcake Queen,
ReplyDeleteI don't wish to win the cupcake contest since I'm surrounded by cake every day (I'm a cake decorator in a bakery) but I do wish you'd tell us where you get those great cupcake liners (bakeable or not).
I could tell you all about my daily stress but instead I'll just say that I would LOVE TO GET CUPCAKES FROM YOU! I work with kids that are in foster care and if I won I'd share the cupcakes with some of them as well as my husband and two daughters.
ReplyDeleteHi Your Royal Cupcake Highness,
ReplyDeleteI stumbled across your blog, and now I am truly addicted. My day does not start until I view your pictures and drool goes on the keyboard. I would love to end my final semester in college (graduation woooohooo!!) with your 52 cupcakes. I know that it would be my ultimate comfort/stress/happiness in a paperliner food for my finals.
I've been reading your blog for about half the year, and I've read most of the archives too. Fantastic stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe reason I'd love to win the cupcakes is this: I'm from England, but I live here in the States with my lovely hubby. Mum always made me a special birthday cake each year, but since I got married I've never been home for my birthday, so no special cake. :( I just don't like store-bought cakes. Bleh. Anyway last year I didn't even get a cake (which is a BIG deal to me) because we were travelling to another state on my birthday, for a funeral. This year my dear mother-in-law did make a box mix one but it's just not the same...
So some cupcakes made JUST FOR ME would really help my homesickness. I know it probably sounds like it shouldn't be a big deal but birthdays were important in my parents family, not so in the new one. My birthday recently passed so it would be amazing to win this. :)
Have you read Nigela Lawson's cook books? She is the Domestic Goddess. She calls cupcakes 'fairy cakes' which I find delightful. If I were to win your cupcakes/fairy cakes I would share them with my own little fairy granddaughters. They would think that is the best thing ever. And I cannot WAIT to taste those orange liquor ones....yummage!
ReplyDeletePlease pick me :)
~K!
Hi Kismet:
ReplyDeleteYes...I have read some of Nigela's books. I love her tv show! Her fairy cakes do look good, don't they?
The orange cupcakes were the favorite of a lot of the folks in my office! They are the recipients of my Sunday baking. They are very sorry to see that part of 52 cupcakes end. I'll still be making cupcakes...just not bringing them to work!
Thanks for writing...CQ
Congrats to Finley and Chaz! Enjoy the cupcakes!
