Christmas in August Cupcakes for Prissy Cook!

Christmas Cupcakes in August for Prissy Cook

Last week The Prissy Cook helped me with this huge, huge, huge problem I had setting up hosting for a web site I've been working on for a "secret" client. She solved my problem seemingly with a "virtual" snap of her fingers, and I told her I'd make her some "virtual" cupcakes....sort of a present...an early Christmas present!

Layla thought these looked good enough to eat! In fact, Layla spent quality kitchen time with me while I...I mean we...made and decorated the cupcakes. I used a Duncan Hines White Cake Mix...and added a cup of coconut to it. As soon, as we had them in oven, Layla left the kitchen! Then an hour later, she showed up again to help me decorate and photograph the goods! his dog is a cupcake foodie!

We used Duncan Hines Coconut Pecan Frosting. It was delish! I added more coconut to the top!

Did I mention that Santa jumped(!) up on this cupcake while we weren't looking???

Rock On!

  3. Ok, can I just tell you that I HEART YOU?!?!!?

I've been reading your blog for some time now. Let's see my old page was www.ourjbaby.blog..... Anyhoot, I've tried many of your recipes, all of which were great.

Most recently I've tried the Frozen Lemon cupcakes (which were a big hit with a little vodka - to help it fill those martini glasses).

I've always wanted to try the fondant, and now you're my inspiration. Take care... I adore all the pics of Layla too :)

I've been reading your blog for a while now...I think it's fabulous! My daughter is turning 3 next week, and she wants a circus birthday party. I've been racking my brain trying to come up with a cake/cupcake idea (i need a cake for a party, cupcakes for playgroup) but am at a loss. I made a pretty cool carousel cake last year (that even spun around!) so I need to top that somehow. I haven't been able to find much in the way of circus cake toppers, and am running out of ideas. I thought you might be the person to ask for suggestions. Thanks for your help, and keep baking! Jen Canning jen_jen_canning@hotmail.com

  8. I meant to tell you, my father's fiancee adopted a new dog. They had no clue what he was, the card at the SPCA said "Lab-Pit mix". I took one look at him and said, "He's an American Bulldog". He looks like Chance from Homeward Bound. I'll have to post a picture on my blog sometime. He's such a cute dog, and has the pouting thing down. He's a little bit like your Layla too- he's all white but has no brown on him at all. They are gorgeous dogs!

  9. jennifer: we thought Layla looked like Chance, too. Also, there's one in "Cheaper by the Dozen." They are so cute. I don't know if you're on flickr...but there's a group called American Bulldogs...or something like that. Check it out...the photos are so cool!
