Donna Hay Magazine Responds--Cupcake Liners

Early in October Niki suggested that I write to Donna Hay Magazine about the cute cupcake liners (see photo)...Lucy (Market Editor and Stylist for Donna Hay Magazine wrote back tonight! Here's what she said:

"The paper cases you are asking about are imported from France, I think they say something in French!?!
They also have a waxy finish which helps them keep there shape.
A fan of yours Niki was correct, they were originally purchased from Supply and Demand, but they no longer stock them...
You could try an Australian Company called Essential Ingredient. They have a website www.theessentialingredient.com.au , though it's not very detailed. You could contact them.
You could also try www.bakerysugarcraft.com.au.
I tried googling some other patisserie suppliers, but wasn't able to find that many.
Let me know if you need any more assistance... or even if you find them... we'd love to use them again.
Keep up the baking!"

  1. Essential Ingredient is a fantastic shop, with outlets in quite a few Australian cities. But they are expensive. My bf's cousin used to work at the store in Sydney, and often offered to get me staff discounts on things; it's a pity he's not there any more!! Damn!

  2. Speaking of cupcake liners, do you know where one can find dark brown ones? I saw them at confectioneryhouse.com awhile back, but they no longer carry them. Any help? Thanks!

I think the liners are interesting. But I have my eye on the cupcakes. They look different and tastey. Maybe I missed something and everyone else knows what they are but I don't. Could I please get the name and the receipe for them? Thank you.

  6. Kiki: Donna Hay calls them "Patty Cakes," and the recipe is in her book...the New Cook...that was published in the US in 2003.

The Patty Cake recipe under the "Butter and Baking" section and is on page 160 with the photo on the opposite page.
