Well, the Terps did beat Navy on Saturday night, so yesterday I started looking for football cupcakes. There was a tiny problem...It took me quite a while to decide what cupcake made me think about football. I could not come up with any certain thing! So, I decided to make it have something chocolate...so I searched my cupcake books and found The Artful Cupcake's Chocolate Chip Cupcake! It's so cute.
And, the recipe had two different suggestions for frosting: Chocolate Sour Cream and Classic Buttercream..very different flavors but both awesome tasting. Then I made the little pennants and glued them on toothpicks. They worked out great!
Tomorrow I will take the "Terp" cupcakes to work. I can't wait to see the reaction.

What lucky co-workers you have!
ReplyDeleteHey, what's the trick to keeping cupcakes & muffins from sticking to the paper liners? Do you just coat 'em w/ nonstick cooking spray?
You know, I haven't had a problem with the paper liners sticking...but I would think that spraying them with baker's joy might help.
ReplyDeleteSurcie,
ReplyDeleteWe're beyond lucky. We're spoiled rotten. Let her be late just one Monday morning, it's ugly in here!
These babies will give someone a toothache just looking at them. Tasty, but almost too much. Awful cute, though.
Hmm, Terps are derivative of terrapin, an edible turtle. Perhaps a pecan-caramel-chocolate (reminiscent of tutle candies) cupcake could be devised. We'll call it "Terpcake" and consume them whenever they win!
ReplyDeleteOh no, I've found a blog I like but she's a TERP fan!! Ha, I'm a UVa Wahoo but I guess I can forgive you...though I wouldn't make terp cupcakes , I loved your idea! And they did end up looking awesome.
ReplyDeleteI came across your site from the Cup-A-Cake container site. I am a Maryland native, UMD grad and die hard Terp fan. I love those flags you have in your cupcakes, where did you get them? I must have them!
ReplyDeleteHeather: I made the flags myself. It was really, really easy. I went to the UM Terps athletics web site and grabbed the Terps logo. Then I fixed it photoshop and copy and pasted about 10 of them into one document. Printed them up and cut them out. Put a little bit of elmer's glue on the top of a toothpick and lay the flag over the paste. Let dry and you're ready to rock and roll.
ReplyDeletethat's so cool that you are a Maryland grad. I'm in charge of the care and feeding of the Maryland home page. I graduated from there, too. Great to hear from you.

ReplyDeleteHeather: Just realized that we're playing each other this weekend...Yikes!
ReplyDeleteAre you going to post the recipes for these soon? I've been waiting to have a look at making these.
ReplyDeleteI kind of forgot about these...I'll post it tomorrow...promise!
ReplyDeleteHi, Cupcake Queen,
ReplyDeleteI am glad that I came across your website recently. I didn't realise that there are so many others who are also interested in cupcakes. I love baking and decorating them. However, some of my cupcakes leave the cupliners about 10 to 15 mins after I've removed them from the oven. Could you help?
Best Wishes,
YH
I know this is from 2 years ago but I happened to found your website from google looking for football cupcakes. I live in Southern California and this weekend is the big USC vs. UCLA rivalry game and we are having a party at my house. I couldnt think of anything to do for my rivalry cupcakes but this idea was great!! Thank You!!
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI found your site while searching for cute cupcake ideas for a sports team (my son's soccer team)
How did you make the pennants? The printing looks nice.
