Eat, Drink and Be Scary Pt. Deux: Here Come the Halloween CupKin PumpCakes!

The Halloween Cupcakes Scene was going strong in our house today ...waiting for the CupKin PumpCake to come out of the oven ...and it did! And, it was made out of pumpkin and cranberries and some chocolate, too!

These pumpkin and cranberry cupcakes were based on Julie Hasson's 125 Cupcakes books..remember the first cupcake book contest? I added cranberries instead of the raisons she suggested.

The frosting...black and white...was Billy's Vanilla Vanilla Frosting...it never fails me! I'd been collecting Halloween items here for most of the year. Whenever I went on a trip I found some little thing that I thought might work for Halloween party cupcakes...have you noticed how much Halloween stuff there is for sale now...not as much as holiday stuff, of course, but pretty close.

I think I like the skeleton ones the best ...they look like someone drowning in black goo! The skeletons are made out of plastic ...unedible ...but cute!

I also found some Halloween Oreos with bright orange frosting...I broke them up and used them as topping for some of the cupcakes. And, of course, Halloween wouldn't be complete without a photo of Layla and some bones!

Hope you have a blast on Halloween!

Rock on!

CQ

  5. These are really incredible! You've outdone yourself - I love the last one of the dog staring longingly at the cupcake and how the skeleton is actually IN the frosting. Yum!

  11. OMG!! I must tell you that you inspire me to bake cupcakes at least once a week. I know my family loves me in the kitchen baking so much, but I don't think my waist line appreciates it.

You are so much of an inspiration, THANKS!!!

    Good job (as always)

Wow! How are you? I was just reading your blog last night...I love your outlook on life...once again you had me dying laughing almost rolling on the floor!

Thanks for the nice comment...it was really fun setting the ghostly scene up in my office. But even funnier was watching unsuspecting cupcake fans eat the ones with black icing...they didn't realize (well, I really didn't either) that their teeth and tongue would turn a really scary black, too. Pretty funny!

    Have a scarwee day! CQ

  14. baby "j": my usual plan with the cupcakes is just to eat 1/4 of one cupcake...I know it;s hard but at least it's a start. The bigger problem is when you make one that is the best ever! Then you just have to eat the whole thing!

Hey, CQ! For the past few weeks, I've either been sick or out of town, so I haven't been visiting my favorite blogs as much.

Thought of you today when I saw the new Harry & David catalog--they now have Christmas cupcakes. Of course, they don't look nearly as yummy as your creations, but I'd much rather send/get a gift of cupcakes than a fruitcake or beefstick!

    Happy Halloween!

  20. I am dying to know where you found the little plastic skeleton (the one drowning in the black goo, lol). I would love to make those for my Halloween Party, but I can't find skeletons like that anywhere. Feel free to comment on my blog to let me know or email me at stephanie _ rice at comcast dot net. Thanks!
